Lemon Way

Lemon Way starts from Victor Fleming’s 1934 film The Wizard of Oz, specifically when its characters take the golden (yellow) path to Emerald City. Following the economic and commercial embargo imposed by the United States on Cuba in 1960, the North American country has sold to the Cuban citizens an image of success, fortune and splendor, tempting the inhabitants of the island to run in pursuit of the “American Dream.” But this path of yellow tiles that promises us fortune and welfare becomes a trap of which we only become conscious when we step on them, since it is not gold but just an illusion that sinks under our feet, submerging us in the waters of the Caribbean Sea.
