We are all sailors and women left behind

Installation (variable dimensions)

Statement

The installation presented by this renowned Norwegian artist is based on certain minimalist airs, and is seized by a certain romantic air. The work is closely related to the following poem:

WE ARE ALL SAILORS

AND WOMEN LEFT BEHIND

Later I learn to understand
that answers reveal nothing.
The sea still washes,
Islands emerges.

Humans still land-bound,
searching – searching.
Social layers,
money floods
stupidity grows.

Big gets bigger,
forehead just as low.
Later I learn to understand
that answers reveal nothing.

The imprint of our time
the volume of our selves.
The colors come,
the sound of you
and you and you and you.

Always an individual
an animal
a flower
a weight
a light
To darkness
I make that thin
skin of glass

sharper now
for others
not to
forget
one’s own
Fumbling with knowledge
– a new way
of saying the same thing

From power
to power
to renewed repression to
instinct
that sets sail
across
the sea
in search
of the darkness.

We are all sailors
and women left behind.
